Riley Show News & Other Happenings...

So, I know it has been a little while since I updated the blog. It just seems time flies when one is super busy! I can hardly believe that the Ditchas will be 9 months old at the end of the month. I can still remember them as little furry slugs! Lol
Riley is back home on a little break from dog shows (with handler Barbara Weiner) since she has singled out on her points. She is now on the hunt for majors. I am super proud of my little smooshie! She accomplished all of her singles from the 6-9 month puppy class. :-) Riley will try for majors in Ft Worth next week and then it is off to the Cardigans National in Ohio at the end of April. Brindle brother Rango in New Mexico has garnered 1 point as well! :-) Rango and Killian will be attending the Nationals also.
Meko in San Francisco attended her first herding instinct test not too long ago and it seems the results were good. Mom Julie is very proud of the Fluffernutter and so am I! I see herding titles in Meko's future. She must take after daddy Chase.
Sable brother Owen (f.k.a. Torch) now resides in California with his new owner Sarah. She has been training him in canine nose work and will also be trying him out on sheep. From all accounts he is a very smart and sweet boy! Now there are 2 Owens in this litter. I guess I will have to refer to them as Owen in Oregon and Owen in California! :-o

Riley's First Points

Riley has had a good start to her show career and has garnered a total of 4 points so far. I have been told she looks really good and has been turning a few heads in the ring! :-) This is great for a puppy who is only a little over 7 months old. I see great things in store for Little Ms Riley Poe! :-)

Weekend & Show News

Little Ms Riley did well this weekend at the Rosenburg, TX shows! She was able to garnish her first 2 AKC points by going Winners on Saturday and Best of Winners on Sunday. She is just shy of 7 months old and this was her 2nd time in the ring. I am soooo SUPER PROUD of my little smooshie! I was told by my handler, Barbara Weiner, that Riley became a wiggly cute puppy on the table when Judge Paul Chen talked sweet baby talk to her! Gotta love the temperaments on the puppies from this litter! :-) Riley also moved well in the ring and seems to enjoy being a little show girl. Riley is the puppy that stayed here from the Chase/Ditto litter. Her registered name is Snapdragon Something Unspoken. Hopefully, show pictures will come shortly. :-)

Brother Rango will make his show debut at the Hobbs, New Mexico shows the beginning of February and then attend the shows in Denver, Colorado. He will get to stay with G-Ma Penni in New Mexico as well. She has promised to send pictures and I will post them as they come in. :-)

Other brother Killian will continue his show career with owner Kathleen McCombs in Waco, TX.  I am not 100% sure of his show schedule as I suspect Kathleen will be busy raising some Chase smooshies of her own soon. Penni tells me Chase sent a "special package" to one of Kathleen's girls (Kiena) recently and there should be puppies around March 22nd. If anyone is interested in one of these smooshies, there is a puppy application on Penni's blog.

2012 & Beyond at Snapdragon Cardigans...

I hope everyone is having a good 2012 so far! :-)
The Ditchas are growing up so fast that it is hard to believe they are already almost 6 & 1/2 months old! Riley and brother Killian made their ring debuts in Glen Rose last weekend. No points for either one but they sure had fun in the ring and that is the important part. They also looked good doing it! :-) The ribbons and points will come later. Riley will be will handler Barb for the next few weeks going to shows around Houston and in Louisiana. I sure miss her when she's gone but I know she has to do it. Maybe one day, if I can find the time off from work, I will be able to try my hand at showing Little Ms Riley Poe myself.
Brother Rango in New Mexico will make his ring debut in Hobbs this month. He will also get to vacation at Penni's house while Johnny & Laura are away. I made Penni promise to send updated pictures!
The are some exciting things in store here at Snapdragon Cardigans! Updates will come as plans are finalized. Hopefully 2012 will turn out to be a great year! :-)

Riley Striking A Pose

With the help of my handler (Barbara Weiner), I was able to get some stacked pictures of Riley. We were at the Dallas shows this weekend. Riley had fun experiencing the sites and sounds of a dog show. Apparently she did well in boot camp with Barbara the last 2 weeks and learned lots of important stuff! :-) Kathleen McCombs brought Killian on Saturday so that Riley and he could play. Riley also got to play with Cardi puppy Lily and an assortment of other dogs. Riley will make her debut at the shows in Glen Rose this January. It will definitely be very entertaining to watch if nothing else! :-)
Brother Killian will be making his debut in Glen Rose as well.Torch (living with Kim Shira) will also make his debut this January at shows in Oregon.
